Our History

From humble beginnings to the present day

The Roots of Our Community

The story of Plains View Mennonite Church began in the mid-20th century when several Mennonite farming families, driven by a common faith and a desire to create a supportive community, started gathering for worship in their homes.

Their dedication and hard work led to the construction of our first church building in 1958. This humble house of prayer became the center of spiritual life and service for many generations of residents in Montezuma and the surrounding areas.

Growth and Service

Over the years, our church has grown, but we have always strived to maintain the spirit of unity and simplicity inherited from our founders. We are part of the broader Anabaptist tradition, which emphasizes discipleship, community, and peacemaking. Today, we continue this story, striving to be a light and salt in our community, sharing the love of Christ through words and deeds.
